COIL FAQS
How do I prime a new coil?
When installing a brand-new replacement coil, it is very important to prime the coil by letting your e-liquid soak into the cotton. This can be done by simply filling the tank and waiting for 3 to 5 minutes, a few drops down the middle of the coil to get an even saturation.
Why are there different coil resistance available for my device?
In vaping, the resistance of a coil is measured in ohms. Any coils with less than 1-ohm resistance are known as sub-ohm coils such as 0.5 ohms. A lower ohm coil will have a lower resistance and will heat up faster, producing more vapour clouds. Sub-ohm coils tend to degrade a little bit quicker than normal higher-ohm coils. sub-ohm coils work really well with thick and higher VG liquids. It will also require more power to operate, and may put more stress on the battery.
A higher ohm coil will have a higher resistance and will heat up more slowly, producing less vapour, but will require less power to operate and will put less stress on the battery. These types of coils are good for mouth-to-lung style vaping, giving a closer feel to a cigarette.
It’s important to note that using a coil with a resistance that is too low for your device can be dangerous and can cause the device to overheat or malfunction. It is recommended to always check the manufacturer’s recommended resistance range for your device and coil before using a new coil.
How long does the coil last?
There are many factors that depend on how long a coil will last. Some of the factors include; how long you puff for, the type of liquid you are using and the wattage setting you have on your device. Low-resistance coils are used at higher wattages and do not last as long as high-resistance coils.
To extend coil life, it is best to prime the coil before use. E-liquid with the right VG : PG ratio will help ensure a longer coil life. Staying between the recommended wattage range and by topping up your tank so that the coil never dries out. With care, coils should last anything from a few days to a week and some more.
Which coil resistance is best for nicotine salts?
Nicotine salts are best used with higher-resistance coils.
Can you clean a coil?
The simple answer is Yes. Remove the coil and wash it in hot (but not boiling water). Ensure you leave the coil for 24 hours before using it again, before using it make sure the coil has completely dried. You can also clean the coil with white alcohol.
Safety Notice
Sub-Ohm tanks and coils must be used by experienced and knowledgeable users as additional safety precautions must be practised when using these items. These products must work on a mod/battery capable of firing at sub-Ohm resistances. So, for example, if you have a 0.5 Ohm coil in your tank, your mod/battery must be capable of firing at 0.5 Ohm resistance, or lower.
You also need to ensure your device can cope with the amps. Improper use can lead to physical injury and damaged equipment.
