Our TPD Compliance Commitment
Hulme Vapes operates in full compliance with UK vaping regulations. As a science-led retailer founded by a Biomedical Science specialist, regulatory compliance is at the core of everything we do.
What is the TPD?
The Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 (TRPR) is the UK legislation governing the manufacture, sale, and marketing of vaping products. Here’s what it means in practice.
Maximum Nicotine Strength
No e-liquid sold in the UK may exceed 20mg/ml nicotine concentration. All nicotine-containing products we sell comply with this limit.
Maximum E-Liquid Bottle Size
Nicotine-containing e-liquid bottles are restricted to a maximum of 10ml. Nicotine-free shortfills are not subject to this restriction.
Maximum Tank Capacity
Refillable vaping devices are limited to a 2ml tank capacity. Pod devices and kits we stock are all within this legal limit.
Product Notification
All nicotine-containing products must be notified to the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) before being placed on the UK market.
Prohibited Ingredients
TPD prohibits certain additives including vitamins, colorants, and substances that pose a risk to human health. We verify all ingredients before stocking any product.
Health Warnings & Labelling
All nicotine-containing products must carry mandated health warnings covering at least 30% of packaging. We only stock correctly labelled products.
Single-Use Disposable Ban — June 2025
The UK Government banned the sale of single-use disposable vapes with effect from 1 June 2025 under the Environmental Protection (Single-use Vapes) England Regulations 2025.
How we prepared
Ahead of the June 2025 deadline, Hulme Vapes proactively transitioned our entire product range away from single-use disposables. We now stock only rechargeable and refillable devices that comply with the new regulations — including rechargeable pod systems that offer the same convenience as disposables without the environmental or legal concerns.
Customers looking for easy-to-use options can find our full range of compliant pod kits and prefilled pod systems in store and online.
How we ensure compliance
Compliance isn’t a checkbox for us — it’s built into how we operate as a business.
Supplier Documentation Review
Before listing any product, we verify MHRA notification status and request full ingredient documentation from suppliers. Products without compliant documentation are not stocked.
Age Verification at Every Sale
All online purchases require digital age verification via OneID® at checkout. In-store, we operate a Challenge 25 policy — any customer who appears under 25 is asked for valid photo ID before a sale is completed.
Staff Training
All Hulme Vapes staff receive training on current UK vaping regulations, age verification procedures, and product compliance requirements. Training is updated whenever regulations change.
Ongoing Regulatory Monitoring
We monitor updates from MHRA, UKVIA, and government guidance to ensure our practices evolve with legislation. Our founder’s biomedical background means we engage with the science behind regulatory decisions, not just the rules themselves.
18+ age restriction policy
It is illegal to sell vaping products to anyone under the age of 18 in the United Kingdom. We take this responsibility extremely seriously.
Online — OneID® Verification
All online customers are required to verify their age via OneID® at checkout. OneID® uses bank-verified identity data to confirm age in seconds — no documents required. Only customers confirmed as 18 or over can complete a purchase.
Learn about our age verification process →In Store — Challenge 25
Our in-store team operates a strict Challenge 25 policy. Any customer who appears to be under 25 years of age will be asked to provide valid photo identification before any vaping product is sold. Accepted ID: passport, driving licence, or PASS-accredited ID card.
